Florida TNR Programs

CARE Feline Rescue, Inc.

CARE Feline Rescue, Inc. is an all volunteer nonprofit corporation.  The organization was founded in the fall of 1995.  Our goal is to reduce the number of feral and stray cats impounded and euthanized by Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) each year.  To achieve that end we coordinate a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program that utilizes both the citizens in our community and Orange County’s low cost spay and neuter clinic.  Since the inception of the program, over 10,000 cats have been spayed or neutered, and received inoculations.

Animal Rescue Coalition

In 1999, leaders from all Sarasota County animal welfare organizations and Sarasota County Animal Services agreed to develop a plan to stop the killing of approximately 6,000 adoptable homeless dogs and cats yearly. On February 28, 2001, ten animal welfare organizations formally approved and agreed to actively support The Animal Rescue Coalition Initiative.

ARC operates a state-of the-art mobile clinic staffed with a licensed  veterinarian, veterinary technicians, and ARC volunteers. The coalition also recognized the importance of addressing feral cat populations in a humane  manner and along with advocating TNR, offers FREE spay/neuter of feral cats once a month. Cats are altered, given vaccines and antibiotics, their nails clipped, their ears cleaned and clipped, and they are then returned at the end of the day. Traps are available through ARC and other member organizations along with trapping requirements. For feral cat surgery schedule information and trapping requirements, please call the ARC Office at (941) 957-1955 ext. 5. This service is available only to non-owned cats brought in by Sarasota County residents.
